Pantone announces two Colours of the Year for 2016
Pantone has announced its Colour of the Year 2016 and for the first time two
colours have been named – Serenity (PANTONE 13-1520) and Rose Quartz (PANTONE 15-3919).
“Consumers seek mindfulness and well-being as an antidote to modern day stresses, welcoming colours that psychologically fulfil our yearning for reassurance and security,” says Pantone. “Joined together, Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace.”
In partnership with Miami-based Crewest Studio, Pantone has picked three artists – Victor Quinonez, Werc and Man One – to create art that showcases the harmony between the shades of blue and pink. The work will be periodically revealed in spots across Art Basel Miami, Venice Beach and New York City.
Past Colours of the Year have included; Marsala (2015), Radiant Orchid (2014) and Emerald (2013).
